Inlays/Onlays

Sometimes tooth decay or fracture destroys a lot of your natural tooth structure, and your teeth need reinforcement in order to stay strong. Depending on the amount of tooth structure remaining, we might recommend replacement of the missing portion of your tooth with a reinforcing inlay or onlay. These can be made out of porcelain or gold. This type of restoration differs from a crown, in that it does not cover the entire tooth. In the right situation, an inlay/onlay will leave your tooth at its strongest, preserving, when feasible, healthier tooth structure. A porcelain inlay or onlay, customized by Dr. Santiago, is virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth and will provide relief from chewing pain, cavity pain, and tooth degeneration.

Gold onlays are among the longest-lasting restorations in dentistry and can be the right choice for the last molars that take the most force during chewing and eating. We are happy to discuss your options with you in detail, in order to help you make the choice that is right for you.
